By definition, SEO is an acronym that stands for search engine optimization. This refers to the process of optimizing your website to gain organic (un-paid) traffic from search engines. There are several factors, that we will discuss later, that all contribute to building an amazing SEO score & in turn, get noticed by search engines!
This list is a short summary and although not complete, it is a great starter checklist of things to keep in mind when you are building your own website! Ensuring that these factors are properly in-place may be key to help you grow your business.
SEO is a dominating factor as to the traffic of your site and it is therefore important to understand not only what it is but how it functions. In short, SEO is a series of over 200 factors employed by search engines to assign any website a numerical page ranking.
Let’s break it down further, every search engine has “spiders” or automated robots that collect information on every website on the web. The spiders then enter the information they find into the search engine’s algorithm. This equation will assign each site a ranking. They collect things like page speed, title tags, social signals, internal linking, keywords, backlinks, and so on. You need to be updating the backend of your company website for as many of the 200 factors as you can control. The higher the rank, the better! You want to get on the first page of Google and this rank number directly correlates to your “ranking” when searched on Google or any other search engine.
